Burama Keita, an Experienced Bird Guide in The Gambia

Birdwatching in The Gambia

Burama Keita is a young yet talented and experienced birdwatching guide. Originally from Tendaba Village, a place renowned for its birdlife along the mighty Gambia river, Burama acquired his broad knowledge and birdwatching skills from a very young age. As a young boy, he accompanied other birdwatching guides and tourists every season on countless tours whilst honing his skills. Today, as a skillful guide, he can identify Gambian birds by sight and sound, and is familiar with the best places in the country for birding and wildlife photography.

The Gambia is one of Africa’s top countries for birdwatching. This little country surrounded by Senegal contains 587 species of migratory and resident birds. Villages, nature parks and wildlife reserves around the country – from the Atlantic coast to deeper along the Gambia river – are all great spots for watching the most spectacular birds of the African continent.

Should you want to organise a birding tour with Burama, please send him a text message (see the Contact page) and he will reply shortly.

The best book to buy for your birdwatching journey is the following (available on Amazon):
